Sundays - 10 am

In this meeting, we follow the Lord Jesus' command to remember Him in His death by taking the bread and wine (1 Corinthians 11:23-26), and we also worship the Lord by singing and giving thanks in prayer. ABOUT

ABOUT US

What We Believe

We regard the Holy Scriptures (The Bible), comprising the Old and New Testaments, as being the inspired and infallible Word of God and teaching the following core principles:

  • There is one living God fully revealed to us in Christ and known through Him as Father, Son and Holy Spirit in the unity of the Godhead. Therefore God is one God, Father, Son and the Spirit (1Tim 2:5, John1:18, Matt 28:19);

  • Full deity and full humanity of the Son of God. The Word, who was with God and was God, was made flesh and dwelt among us, the Man Christ Jesus, the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world (John 1:1,14, 1 Tim 2:5, 1 John 4:14);

  • The Lord Jesus Christ gave Himself a ransom for all having died upon the cross. He has made propitiation for our sins and not for ours alone, but also for the whole world. And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved. (1 Tim 2:6, Phil 2:8, 1 John 2:2, Acts 4:12)

  • The good news of God concerning His Son Jesus Christ as presented in the gospel is towards all those who believe (Rom 1:1-4, Rom 3:22);

  • After His resurrection Christ ascended to the throne of God, upon His ascension the Holy Spirit has been sent down to dwell in those who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ (Eph 4:8, Acts 2:4, Acts 5:32, 1 Cor 3:16);

  • The Lord has left two rites or ordinances both representative of His death. One being baptism which signifies our identification with His death as separating us from the world. The other, a weekly collective celebration of the Lord’s Supper, the remembrance of His death in the bread speaking to us of His body and the cup speaking to us of His blood. This provides the enduring bond of our fellowship and unity with God (Acts 16:15, Rom 6:3, 1 Cor 11:23-25);

  • According to His promise, Christ will return for those who are His during the event known as the Rapture. The dead in Christ will be raised incorruptible and the living believers will be changed. The resurrection and change will take place in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye. Changed bodies of believers will be like unto His glorious body (1 Thess 4:14-17, Phil 3:21, Acts 2:21, 2 Tim 2:19);

  • During the end times and the period known as the tribulation, this world will be under the reign of the antichrist also known as the man of sin. This man will be energized by Satan and become the complete embodiment of all evil and lawlessness. At the end of the tribulation Christ will return and destroy this son of perdition with the breath of His mouth and annul by the power of His presence after which He will set up His kingdom on this earth for a thousand years (2 Thess 2:8-9)

  • After thousand years of His reign on this earth are completed there will be final judgment at the Great White Throne. The judge will be the Lord Jesus Christ. Following this final judgment this earth and the universe will be destroyed by fire and new universe and new earth will be made where righteousness will prevail eternally. (Acts 17:31, 2 Pet 3:10, Rev 20:11-15).

Colton Bible Chapel is a gathering of Christians that meet together following the example of the early Church found in the New Testament. We are also known as a "Brethren Assembly."

Short History of the Brethren Assemblies

The Brethren movement was the result of concern over the prevailing condition of the existing church. In the winter of 1827-28, four men, John Nelson Darby, Edward Cronin, John Bellett, and Francis Hutchinson gathered to pray and read Scripture. The first meeting was held in Dublin, Ireland, and other meetings followed. Soon there were assemblies gathering in several locations. The most well-known group was in Plymouth, England, and the name “Plymouth Brethren” has since become a default name.

Through prayer and diligent study of the Word of God, these men returned to the teachings and practices of early church as seen in the book of Acts and in the Epistles. They recognized all believers as part of the body of Christ and the priesthood of all believers as key starting points. Other important distinctives are the plurality of overseers and the absence of clergy/laity. Though Brethren churches do not hire salaried pastors, they do recognize Spiritual gifts and ministries among believers. That the Lord Jesus gave some as apostles, and some prophets, and some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the perfecting of the saints. Brethren churches typically partake of the Lord’s Supper weekly.

There have been a number of Brethren who have attained distinction in their Christian service. Among these are H A Ironside, George Muller, W. E. Vine, and William MacDonald.

Born to Win Prison Ministries

slide-inmate-reading-bible.jpg

Born to Win Prison Ministries (BTWM) is a Bible correspondent courses ministry, offered in both English and Spanish, designed to serve the inmates of Riverside County Jails and other State prisons in Southern California.

BTWM began in 2013 and adopted Emmaus Correspondence School’s courses and books for its program. Emmaus Correspondence School is a worldwide ministry which has served millions of students since its founding in 1945. The courses focus on Biblical truth and practical areas of the Christian life. These courses stress that the Bible is the Word of God - that Christ alone can save us and give us eternal life (Matthew 1:21; John 3:16).

Through reading the courses, studying the Bible, and answering the questions at the end of each course, inmates have the opportunity to find the truth about God’s love and His plan of salvation. Many inmates have found their peace with God, through the Bible correspondence courses, by putting their trust in the Lord Jesus and in His work on the cross of Calvary.
